Eid Event with Birmingham Children's Trust
In 2022, Sahara Housing Association proudly hosted a landmark Eid celebration, the first of its kind in partnership with one of our key stakeholders, Birmingham Children’s Trust. This special event was not just a celebration of the festival itself, but a powerful expression of inclusion, unity, and community spirit, values that lie at the heart of Sahara Housing Association’s mission.

The event was orchestrated to bring the warmth and joy of a family environment to many of the vulnerable individuals supported by Sahara, particularly those living in our accommodations. Among the attendees were Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), young adults, and other vulnerable residents, many of whom have experienced displacement, trauma, and social isolation. For them, this event provided a sense of belonging, joy, and cultural recognition in a safe and supportive environment.
Held in Birmingham, the fully catered Eid party featured:
- A festive atmosphere complete with traditional foods, a variety of fun stalls, music, and decorations reflective of the cultural diversity of our residents.
- Interactive activities and entertainment to engage young people and promote social bonding.
- A setting that mirrored a familial celebration, reinforcing Sahara’s core commitment to building a community where every individual feels seen, valued, and included.

This was the first Eid celebration of its kind hosted by Sahara Housing Association working with Birmingham Children’s Trust, and it left a lasting impression.
The event was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including:
- The Lord Mayor of Birmingham
- Councillors from Birmingham City Council
- Senior representatives from Birmingham Children’s Trust
- Community leaders and local authority partners
These guests not only joined in the celebration but also took the opportunity to recognise and commend the vital work being carried out by Sahara Housing Association in supporting vulnerable children, young people, and adults across the city.
Their attendance and public acknowledgment highlighted Sahara Housing Association’s growing reputation as a compassionate, trusted, and culturally aware service provider, dedicated to creating safe spaces and positive experiences for the individuals we support.
A Celebration with Purpose
The Eid party exemplified Sahara Housing Association’s mission to go beyond housing, by empowering change, fostering community, and bringing light and joy into the lives of those we serve. It demonstrated that our support extends not only to the practical needs of accommodation and care, but also to the emotional and social well-being of our residents.
Through events like this, we aim to continue building bridges across communities, promote multicultural understanding, and continue to deliver services that uphold dignity, respect, and inclusion for all.
