Sahara Housing Association is a not-for-profit social housing provider dedicated to delivering quality, culturally sensitive, and sustainable homes to those in need. The organisation partners with communities, especially those facing additional barriers to secure housing.

Why Serve as a Board Member?

  • Influence strategic decisions that directly affect lives and communities.
  • Help ensure services stay responsive, inclusive, and financially sound.
  • Collaborate with a committed team working to reduce housing inequality and build thriving communities.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants passionate about the following areas are particularly encouraged:

  • Finance, governance, or law
  • Property development and asset management
  • Tenant engagement and community development
  • Social policy or charity leadership

However, enthusiasm, integrity, and a genuine commitment to Sahara’s mission are valued as highly as technical skills.

Board Member Responsibilities

  • Attend approximately two Board meetings per year (in the evenings, held both online and in person).
  • Read and prepare board papers in advance of meetings.
  • Act as an ambassador for Sahara Housing Association within the community.
  • This role is voluntary, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
